TU KOX

“TU KOX” is a communication game meant to help people get to know each other. The name “TU KOX” derived from a Lithuanian phrase “tu koks?” meaning “what are you like?” or “what kind of person are you?”. The idea for the concept came while organizing a small event for participants of international design workshop held in Lithuania. The purpose of “TU KOX” is to work as a getting-to-know-you type of game, serving as an icebreaker and helping people become more acquainted with each other. The game is played in small teams of 2-10 players by assembling triangle cards with same colored corners, completing circles and then asking questions using hints from icon cards.

This method helps finding out each others’ interests, experiences, memories, and so on in a fun and creative way.
A hexagon was chosen as the main geometric shape for “TU KOX” game design. It occurs in nature and can be found in formation of honeycomb which is associated with bees and their cooperative work. The triangles put together into hexagon shapes while completing circles of colors symbolize communication and unity. Dominant orange color was also chosen for its psychological properties to stimulate optimism and communication, all of that adding to the concept and design of “TU KOX”.

Concept and design for a communication game “TU KOX” were made as an assignment while studying at VDA Kaunas Faculty in 2015.
